Federal investigators say Vermont’s largest hospital has corrected problems found after a patient committed suicide in its psychiatric wing in January.
The Vermont Division of Licensing and Protection conducted a 2-day inspection last month at Burlington’s Fletcher Allen Health Care on behalf of the federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid.
A failed inspection could have jeopardized federal funding to the hospital. Fletcher Allen last fiscal year got $254 million – about 40% of its revenues from the federal government.
Last month’s inspection did find three deficiencies, which hospital spokesman Mike Noble says Fletcher Allen is working to correct.
