Flu vaccine distribution begins on Wednesday

The Vermont Health Department will begin distributing influenza vaccine on Wednesday for children and nursing home residents, those who are most at risk of flu complications. State epidemiologist Doctor Cort Lohff says the limited amount of vaccine will be administered according to state guidelines.

The guidelines say that children older than six months and younger than 18 years with chronic medical conditions should be first in line for flu shots. Lohff says there’s enough vaccine to vaccinate the young children at highest risk.

Next officials will develop a plan for nursing home residents.
