(Host) There’s a new man in charge at Champlain Housing Trust, which serves northwestern Vermont.

Michael Monte is the former head of community and economic development for the city of Burlington.

Today, he was appointed the new chief operating officer of the Housing Trust.

Monte will take the job in December.

He says he’s looking forward to getting to work on the thorny issue of affordable housing in Vermont, in hopes of making communities more livable for people.

Monte was a founder of the Burlington Community Land Trust in 1984. Two years ago, that land trust merged with Champlain Housing Development Corporation, creating the Champlain Housing Trust.
