Former NHL, UVM star makes US Hockey Hall of Fame

Former University of Vermont and NHL star John LeClair has been selected to the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame.

LeClair is a native of St. Albans.

During 17 seasons in the NHL, LeClair scored 406 goals and 413 assists for 819 points in 967 career games. He played for the Montreal Canadiens, Philadelphia Flyers and Pittsburgh Penguins.

LeClair played in five NHL All-Star games from 1996 to 2000 with Philadelphia.

He played for the University of Vermont from 1987 to 1991. During his career at UVM, LeClair scored 56 goals and had 60 assists in 92 games.

He helped lead the Catamounts to their first NCAA Tournament appearance.
