A former University of Vermont provost will become the next head of the Windham Foundation.

John Bramley will replace Stephan Morse in January.

Morse is retiring after 24 years as president of the Grafton-based foundation.

The Windham Foundation’s goal is to promote the village of Grafton, support education and private charities and to develop projects that will benefit Vermont.

The Foundation also operates the Grafton Village Cheese Company, The Old Tavern at Grafton and the Retreat Farm in Brattleboro.

Bramley who is currently a UVM professor, has served as UVM’s senior vice president, provost and dean of the college of agriculture and life sciences.
