Today marks the fourth anniversary of the disappearance of a 17-year-old girl from Sheldon, with no leads to report.

Vermont State Police say they now believe Brianna Maitland was the victim of foul play.

She vanished March 19, 2004 after leaving the Black Lantern Inn in Montgomery, where she worked as a dishwasher. Her 1985 Oldsmobile 88 was found about a mile away, smashed into an abandoned barn.

Four days later, her parents reported her missing.

Detective Glenn Hall of the Vermont State Police says that over the last 10 months, detectives have expanded the investigation and now believe Maitland was a victim of foul play. They’re not saying why they think that.

No suspects have been named, though her parents have offered a $20,000 reward.
