GOP candidate drops out of congressional race

A Stowe businessman has dropped his bid to challenge incumbent Bernie Sanders in the race for Congress. Robert Anderson says an election campaign would place a heavy burden on his family.

The 41-year-old Anderson announced his plan to run against Sanders earlier this year. He had criticized Sanders’ “socialist ideology” and had pledged to shift the political debate back to the center.

His departure leaves Greg Parke, a retired Air Force officer from Rutland, to try to win the GOP nod.
