Gov. Jim Douglas is planning to visit today areas of Vermont hit by the ice storm earlier this month.

At its peak the storm knocked out power to more than 40,000 Vermont electric customers.

The hardest hit part of Vermont was Windham and Windsor counties.

Today Douglas is planning to meet with officials from the Windham County town of Wilmington and the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

He will then visit Marlboro and Dover.

The state is trying to determine if the damage from the storm was great enough to apply for a federal disaster declaration.
