A Green Mountain Power executive is set to become the utility’s next president and CEO.

The electric company announced yesterday that Mary Powell will succeed current GMP President Chris Dutton next August.

GMP Board Chairman Robert Tessier says Powell has been a key driver in helping transform GMP into a high performing company known for using technology to drive customer satisfaction.

The 47-year-old Powell joined Green Mountain Power in 1998 after working in both the public and private sectors.

As CEO, Powell says her focus will be to provide superior service while seeking new sources of electricity after the expiration of GMP contracts with Hydro Quebec and Vermont Yankee.
