(Host) Progressive gubernatorial candidate Michael Badamo says the most important environmental issue facing the state of Vermont is the development of renewable energy programs.

Badamo, who was endorsed on Friday afternoon by the Vermont Green Party, a group affiliated with Ralph Nader, says he would support a massive renewable energy program to replace power produced at the Vermont Yankee Nuclear Power Plant:

(Badamo) “I think that we need to urgently build wind generators. I think we need urgently to work very hard to make sure that Yankee is shut down. I think that it is not only an environmental threat but it is a economic threat and I think that it is a terrorist danger. I think it is a terrorist target – it’s the only terrorist target we’ve got in Vermont.”

(Host) Green Party Treasurer Craig Hill says his organization has roughly 600 members in Vermont.
