A handful of incumbents have lost their bids for re-election to the Vermont House.

In Burlington, longtime Democrat Bill Aswad lost to another Democrat in his two-person district.

And in Rutland, Democrat Peg Andrews lost her race for another term to a Republican.

In the Northeast Kingdom, incumbent Republican Gary Reis lost.

Republican Peter Perley was defeated in Franklin County and Jim Eckhardt, also a Republican, lost in his Rutland-Windsor district.

The overall numbers of Democrats and Republicans is still unclear because of a handful of towns haven’t reported their votes.

But Democrats will still easily control the House when it convenes in January.
