New Hampshire Congressman Paul Hodes says he’s disappointed that the Department of Veterans Affairs has decided not to put a new outpatient clinic in Keene. That clinic was sought by members of state’s Washington delegation.

While Hodes says he’s pleased that access to care for veterans in the Monadnock region will be enhanced by the opening of a new clinic in Brattleboro, he says it’s not an adequate substitute for a New Hampshire clinic.

He wrote to Secretary James Peake on Thursday asking for more information on the selection of Brattleboro.

Hodes says the absence of a full-service veterans hospital in Manchester and an outpatient clinic in Keene is a serious inequity, and it places a hardship upon veterans and their families.
