Vermont poet and playwright David Budbill is revisiting his holiday entertainment, Two For Christmas.

The play, which was originally produced in 1996, tells two parallel stories. The first is Budbill’s translation of The Second Shepherd’s Play, a 15 th century  English miracle play.

The second act is called A Pulp Cutter’s Nativity, which is set in northern Vermont some 500 years later, and reintroduces characters from Budbill’s well-known play, Judevine.

Budbill sat down with VPR’s Neal Charnoff to talk about his work.

David Budbill’s Two For Christmas runs through Saturday at Montpelier’s Lost Nation Theater.  The play will also have December performances in Hardwick and Burlington .
