For 25 years, Garrison Keillor has been bringing the Midwestern values of Lake Wobegon to readers and radio listeners with “A Prairie Home Companion.” Lake Wobegon may be fictional but Keillor’s credentials as a liberal democrat are very real.
Keillor’s newest book, “Homegrown Democrat,” is his love letter to liberalism, or what he calls “the politics of kindness.” The book is part memoir and part civics lesson, but mostly it is his plea for common sense and compassion in politics.
