The Vermont Association of Hospitals and Health Systems is also hailing the state’s new ranking as the healthiest in the country, but says there’s more work to do.

M. Beatrice Grause, president and CEO of the association, says the ranking shows Vermont has a high-quality rural health care system.

But she says the state’s businesses and workers are struggling with the high costs of that system, and that the number of uninsured Vermonters is climbing steadily.

Grause says she hopes that in a decade, Vermont retains its top ranking but can show progress in creating affordable, high quality access to health coverage for all its residents.
