The latest buzz phrase in the arts community is "Creative Placemaking." 

Simply put, Creative Placemaking is the strategy of creating and developing communities around arts and cultural activities.

It’s a phenomenon that has occurred organically in places like Greenwich Village and Brooklyn, New York. 

But Creative Placemaking has been adopted by national policy-makers as a strategy to spur growth and community engagement.

Alex Aldrich, the executive director of the Vermont Arts Council and a regular contributor to the Weekly Conversation, describes how Creative Placemaking works.
