Interstate 91 northbound in Brattleboro is open again this morning following a fatal accident involving a tractor-trailer that closed one side of it for 12 hours.

One northbound lane is open and one is closed in the wake of the accident, which occurred yesterday when a truck bound for Andover, New Hampshire, crashed through a guardrail and plunged 61 feet off a bridge, bursting into flames and killing the driver.

The accident closed the highway in both directions for nearly four hours, and the northbound lanes remained closed for about 12 hours. It was reopened about 7:30 p.m. yesterday, but travel is still restricted to one lane.

State transportation officials say it’ll likely stay that way through the end of the week as the 130-foot section of guardrail is repaired.

The victim is 35-year-old Edvin Medina of South Plainfield, NJ.
