The news from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan is so often difficult to hear, it is with more than a little relief that Christine Sullivan can bring us the story of Cinnamon.

Cinnamon is a native of Afghanistan, a dog found wandering stray in the city of Kandahar by Navy Reservist Mark Feffer during his tour of duty there in 2006.

Christine Sullivan is Feffer’s sister. She lives in Cambridge, Vermont, and is the author of "44 Days Out of Kandahar", a book that details her desperate and improbable efforts to find a home for a dog who touched the hearts of American soldiers in a land thousands of miles away.
