(Host) Voters in several Vermont cities elected mayors yesterday, including Burlington. The city is unique because it uses Instant Run Off voting to elect their top office. Burlington’s Progressive Mayor Bob Kiss is headed for a second term after narrowly edging out Republican City Council President Kurt Wright.

Kiss narrowly defeated Republican Kurt Wright with 51-point-5 percent to 48-point-5 percent in the third round of instant runoff voting.

Burlington’s Progressive Party has held the mayor’s office since 1981, Except for a two-year period in the early 1990s.
