(Neal Charnoff) When disasters occur, we count on local and federal agencies to assist in rescue and recovery efforts. Organizations like the Red Cross are prepared to provide people with medical assistance and shelter. But similar planning for animals is a new issue for many communities.

Joining us now to talk about disaster service programs for animals is Joanne Bourbeau. She is the New England regional director for the Humane Society of the United States. Joanne Bourbeau, thank you for joining us.
