(Host) How does one learn to live with cancer? And how can families help negotiate the journey that follows the diagnosis?

Those are some of the questions addressed by author Eric Kingson in his book, Lessons From Joan. Kingson’s wife Joan contracted the disease in 1998. The book takes us through the days of months of treatments, advocacy and everyday struggles, and offers compassionate, practical advice on communicating with health care providers and managed care services.

Eric Kingson is a professor of Social Work at Syracuse University. He spoke with Neal Charnoff about why he wrote the book.

Note: Kingson will be appearing at Barnes and Noble in South Burlington, Wednesday evening at 7
