(Steve Delaney) American authorities keep insisting that the struggle against al Qaeda and a possible war with Iraq are not conflicts against Muslims, and yet radical Islamic groups keep insisting they are. The fabric of the relationship between Islam and America has become frayed lately. One expert who can speak to that decline is Gregory Gause of the University of Vermont, who teaches Middle Eastern politics.
