The world’s premier cycling race gets underway tomorrow the grueling Tour de France. But already there’s a cloud hanging over the event, with the news that one of the world’s best and a former winner of the Tour de France Jan Ullrich has been suspended amid a doping scandal in Spain.

This comes on the heels of fresh allegations that cycling legend Lance Armstrong took illegal performance-enhancing drugs during his unprecedented 7-year run of first place finishes, charges Armstrong still denies.

John Morton lives in Thetford and is a former Olympic athlete. He spoke with Mitch Wertlieb about the doping scandal. He says much as he doesn’t want to believe it, he can understand why some are now questioning Armstrong’s legacy.
