Levine is the author of the book "Not Buying it: My Year Without Shopping". It was published in 2006, but may be even more relevant now given how so many of us are agonizing over how to cut down expenses in a recession.
Levine lives with her partner in Hardwick and in Brooklyn, and says her decision to go a year without shopping occurred to her after a Christmas-holiday mishap.
