This past Tuesday the country marked the 230th anniversary of its independence from Britain, and tomorrow an event will be celebrated in Vermont to commemorate the Green Mountain state’s birth as an Independent Republic. That’s an identity that existed from 1777 to 1791 with the adoption of the Vermont Constitution, and as folks in Windsor will tell you it did as much to establish the guiding principles of what it means to be an American as that famous document penned by Thomas
Jefferson.

Kay Carrier is Vice Chair of the Vermont Independence heritage celebration taking place in Windsor tomorrow, where it’s been held for the past 8 years. She spoke with Mitch Wertlieb about celebration.
