Norwich University in Northfield will host a conference tomorrow called “From the War Zone to the Home Front.” The day-long event provides support for returning soldiers, and the families that have endured their absence.
One of the speakers at tomorrow’s conference is Kristin Henderson, author of the book While They’re at War and herself a military spouse. Her husband is an Army Chaplain who spent time in Iraq embedded with a marine unit. She spoke with Mitch Wertlieb about the complex challenges that confront family members of military men and women, and her own trauma that eventually prompted her to write the book and seek help by talking with chaplains stationed at Fort Bragg in North Carolina.
