The war in Iraq has claimed the lives of more than 3,000 U.S. soldiers, but the number of Iraqis killed since the war started in 2003 is in dispute.
The U.S. government estimates that about 60,000 Iraqis have died in violence resulting from the war, but as we’re about to hear, researchers who conducted their own study in Iraq say the real figure is much, much higher.
Les Roberts is a professor of the Forced Migration and Health Program at Columbia University in New York City, and will be one of many featured speakers at tomorrow’s Global Health Conference at St. Michael’s College in Colchester.
He spoke with Mitch Wertlieb and says the conference will emphasize a simple but overlooked fact of modern life.
