One of the world’s most powerful images during the fall of Baghdad was the sight of looters pouring out of the Baghdad National Museum. Tens of thousands of antiquities were stolen in 2003 while the museum stood virtually unprotected. Marine Reserve Colonel Matthew Bogdanos heard those stories and made it his mission to get the treasures back.

In his new book, “Thieves of Baghdad” Matthew Bogdanos describes his quest to retrieve what are considered to be some of the most valuable artifacts in antiquity. He’ll be in Manchester Saturday night to speak about the effort. He spoke with Mitch Wertlieb and described his reaction when he learned the museum was under siege.

Note: Col. Matthew Bogdanos appears at the Southern Vermont Arts Center in Manchester Saturday night at 7:30 p.m.
