Interview: Mike Palmer, bee colony collapse disorder

You may have heard recently that those buzzing flying friends, who yes, occasionally administer a nasty sting, but more often than not bring sweet smelling flowers and sweet-tasting honey to our lives are missing in alarming numbers.

A mysterious colony collapse disorder, and no one knows the cause, has wiped out about one quarter of the nation’s 2.4 million bee hives since November.

Mike Palmer is the President of the Vermont Bee Keeper’s Association. He spoke with Mitch Wertlieb and says it hasn’t hit Vermont yet. But it will be a while until we know for sure if the state’s bees are affected.
