(Steve Delaney) How should Vermont plan for a future in which most of its long-term contracts for electric power expire in the next decade? That’s the challenge facing the new commissioner of the Department of Public Service, and it’s especially daunting when he comes to the job without a background in the generation or transmission of electricity.

The new commissioner is David O’Brien, who’s been an industrial development specialist in Rutland until his appointment by Governor Jim Douglas. Commissioner O’Brien, welcome to Morning Edition.
