There are few reporters anywhere in the world that have delved more deeply into the troubled state of affairs in the Middle East than Jeffrey Goldberg.

The Washington correspondent for the New Yorker magazine has spent the better part of the past decade traveling and covering stories in Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iran, and Israel.

He won the 2003 National Magazine Award for reporting on Islamic terrorism.

He’ll be speaking at Middlebury College tonight.

He spoke with VPR’s Mitch Wertlieb and sounds this note of caution: He says when the President of Iran declares that Israel should be wiped off the map it’s a statement that should not be taken lightly.

Note: Jeffery Goldberg will be speaking tonight at Middlebury’s Dana Auditorium in the Sunderland Language Center, located on College Street at 7:30pm. It is free and open to the public.
