How often do you tell your kids to go outside and play? Author Richard Louv thinks it’s not enough. In the book “Last Child in the Woods”, Louv raises an alarm to what he calls “Nature-Deficit Disorder”. Louv points to research linking the absence of nature in children’s lives to disturbing childhood trends, including a rise in obesity, attention disorders and depression.

“Last Child in the Woods” has just been published in paperback by Algonquin Books. Richard Louv spoke with Neal Charnoff about his book.

Note: Louv speaks tonight at 7:00pm in Filene Auditorium at Dartmouth College.
