(Host) The poet Ruth Stone was recently named Vermont’s Poet Laureate. She was born in 1915 in Roanoke, Virginia. But since 1957 her home has been Vermont.
She’ll be honored by the governor and former poet laureates later this week in Montpelier.
VPR’s Jane Lindholm sat down with Ruth Stone and her daughter Marcia at Stone’s house in Middlebury. She asked the poet when she started writing.
