Interview: Seth Mnookin, ‘Feeding the Monster’

For the past two years, journalist Seth Mnookin was granted unlimited and unprecedented access to the inner workings of one of major league baseball’s most storied and often controversial franchises.

And what a time it was to go behind the scenes with the Boston Red Sox. The self-proclaimed idiots of 2004 became the only team in baseball history to come back from 3 games down in a playoff series, against the Yankees no less. And that feat was followed by the organization’s first World Series title in 86 years.

That’s what we know. A lot of what we don’t is chronicled in Mnookin’s new book “Feeding the Monster”. He spoke with Mitch Wertlieb about why he wanted to devote so much of his time and attention to a baseball team.
