(Steve Delaney) When the next Legislature convenes in Montpelier in January its first task will be to organize, which means selecting a speaker who will then hand out committee assignments and chairmanships.

Walter Freed became speaker two years ago when the Republicans won control of the House, and he likes the job. But he’s under challenge from the Democrats’ minority leader, John Tracy. Mr. Speaker, welcome to Morning Edition.
