Interview: tracking West Nile Virus

(Steve Delaney) During the spring we’ve heard story after story about the threat of SARS, the pneumonia-like virus, in Canada and in Asia. Now, medical alerts are out as well for West Nile Virus, and some of the warnings are that it could be a bigger health hazard to Americans than SARS.

Jon Turmel is an entomologist, the insect specialist at the Vermont Agency of Agriculture. He’s watched the spread of West Nile Virus ever since it arrived in the U.S. in the late 1990’s. Mr. Turmel, welcome to Morning Edition.
