January 20th, 2009 is a date you may have seen plastered on bumper stickers over the past few years. But those messages were expressed by critics of President Bush who eagerly awaited the day he would leave office.

But the mood today is one not of criticism but of anticipation and optimism.

For Vermont supporters of Barack Obama, today is a day for watching, or listening to the swearing in at their homes, in their offices or at one of the many parties taking place around the state.

For some Vermonters it was more important enough to be there in person to see it happen. Today we’re speaking with two of them.

First, we hear from Mari Cordes, who lives in Lincoln. Then we speak with Heather Bauman of Charlotte.
