Today’s date, the sixth day of the sixth month in the year ending in “06” 666 for short, is being noted by those of a superstitious
inclination for its frightening supernatural implications. But for those who woke up on this date in 1816 there was a sight to behold that really as beyond the pale.

Vic Henningsen is a historian and educator. He spoke with Mitch Wertlieb about the eerie and unusual weather event that became known as the Year Without a Summer, and got its start 190 years ago today.
