A Vermont man living in a tent almost 14 months after his rented home was destroyed by flooding from Tropical Storm Irene should have a home in Windsor by winter, thanks to the efforts of the local Habitat for Humanity chapter.
Volunteers are building 61-year-old Paul Efstathiou a tiny but weather-tight cabin.
The cabin won’t have electricity or running water, but it will ensure Efstathiou has a safe place to live this winter.
Most of the Vermonters forced from their homes when Irene hit in August 2011 have found places to live. But state officials say there are still more than 700 people in need of long-term help and about 250 homes that need rebuilding.
