To the extent that they care about the satirical slings and arrows sent their way by people like John Stewart and David Letterman, it’s safe to assume that political leaders are at least glad that the writer’s guild has gone on strike.
The Daily Show, Late Show and their ilk have gone into re-runs while writers walk the picket lines, holding out for a greater share of DVD sales of their work and future Internet earnings as well.
Vermont filmmaker Jay Craven says the strike will affect Vermont writers and directors in a different way than their colleagues in Hollywood, but also says there’s a lot of money at stake as new media forms emerge from Tinseltown:
