A judge in Bennington has agreed to freeze $250,000 from the estate of a former teacher who died before being tried on charges he killed his wife.
His wife’s sister has filed a wrongful death complaint against the late Stephen Bolesky, who died June 18th, before he could be tried in the 2006 shooting death of his wife, Constance Oxley.
Bolesky taught social studies at Mount Anthony Union High School for years.
He left the bulk of his $419,000 estate to Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington, to be used to create a memorial in his wife’s honor.
But a writ approved yesterday by Bennington County Superior Court Judge David Howard effectively freezes more than half of that that estate because of a request by Mindalyn Gaunt, Oxley’s sister, who lives in Indiana.
