Vermont rail service

Homeland security bill
Congressman Bernard Sanders says it’s likely that he’ll vote against legislation that expands the authority of the Homeland Security Agency when the measure comes up for a vote later tonight on the House floor. (VPR)

Landmines removal contract
New England division of Applied Research Associates in South Royalton has won a contract valued at nearly $2.5 million to develop a vehicle that would help dismantle landmines. (VPR)

Bikers rally
Harley owners from New Hampshire and Vermont are gathering for the weekend in the Green Mountains. Roughly 1,200 motorcyclists are expected to converge on the Rutland area. The Vermont-New Hampshire Harley Owners Group is rallying in Killington. And the New England District Rally of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association will be in Rutland with about 250 bikers from around the country. (AP)
