Drug Marketing Law
The nation’s pharmaceutical industry says it won’t challenge Vermont’s new drug law in court. The law, which goes into effect on July 1, requires drug salespeople to report how much they spend to influence doctors to use their products. Job Applications at IBM
IBM has received 300 applications for 200 jobs in its manufacturing division. The company says some of the applicants are among the 1,000 who lost their IBM jobs earlier in the month. (AP)
Unemployment Rate
Vermont’s unemployment rate is up a tenth of a point last month to 4%, a figure that does not include the 1,000 job losses at IBM. (AP)
Springfield Tool Jobs
A Springfield company is trying to buy the Bryant Grinder Co. from the successful bidder at a bankruptcy auction. The local group is seeking to assure that machine tool jobs stay in Vermont. (AP)
