Karen Heath named teacher of the year

An elementary and middle school language arts teacher from Barre is Vermont’s 2005 teacher of the year. Karen Heath has been a teacher for 20 years, 16 of them in Vermont. She has worked with students of all ages, from preschoolers to adults.

Heath has designed and implemented an accelerated reading program, served as a spelling coach, helped create and implement a regional language arts festival. Heath is a graduate of Middlebury College and has a master’s degree from the University of Vermont.

She says there are wonderful things happening in Vermont’s public schools.
