A dozen out-of-state kayakers are safe after being helped from the rough waters of Lake Champlain by the U.S. Coast Guard, Vermont State Police and others.

Police say they received a report at about 10 a.m. Sunday from the Coast Guard that a group of kayakers was in trouble northwest of Woods Island off St. Albans.

Rescuers from state, federal and local agencies found that four of the kayakers had capsized in the rough water.

The group was quickly helped to shore. No injuries were reported.
Police say all the kayakers were wearing personal flotation devices.
