Former Human Services Secretary Jane Kitchel is making a bid for the state Senate. Kitchel, a Democrat from Danville, is running for the district covering all of Caledonia County as well as a handful of towns in Orange County.
She retired from the human services agency in 2002, ending a 35-year career that began as a social worker. Kitchel says that her experience in state government gives her background in several key issues, including health care.
Kitchel joins Democrat Matthew Choate of Saint Johnsbury in the race against Republican incumbents Julius Canns and Bernier Mayo.
