The Republican candidate who lost the Burlington mayor race in the third round of instant runoff voting has called off a recount.

City Councilor Kurt Wright conceded his loss to Burlington Mayor Bob Kiss Tuesday night, with about half of the wards counted.

City officials say after 43 percent of the votes were recounted, there was little difference between the hand count and the March 3rd machine count.

Wright lost to Kiss by 252 votes.

Wright says he called for the recount at the request of voters and to test the accuracy of the instant runoff voting system.
