Lake Trout Offspring Not Surviving In Lake Champlain

There are ample numbers of adult lake trout in Lake Champlain. They’re the outcome of a successful stocking program. And they spawn as they should. But those offspring don’t seem to be surviving. The trout fry leave the spawning area and seemingly are not heard from again.

This development is perplexing to scientists. UVM Professor of Fisheries Ellen Marsden, spoke with Vermont Edition about the situation about the failure of the wild trout to reach adulthood.
