Leahy Finds Events In Egypt ‘Remarkable’

As Chairman of the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on State, Foreign Operations and Related Programs, Senator Patrick Leahy oversees billions of dollars in foreign aid. He has watched the recent events in Egypt with great interest.

Leahy says that he finds the scenes in Cairo to be remarkable and believes the Army’s move to restore peace and protect protesters sends a message that the military will not support any attempts by President Hosni Mubarak to remain in power.
