A defense attorney says the Windsor County family court will most likely decide what medical treatment a critically injured infant should receive.

David Sleigh says the father charged with causing the injuries to the two-month-old baby will likely be able to be part of those discussions.

Twenty-eight-year-old Andrew Bedner of Springfield has pleaded not guilty to charges he injured his daughter last week when she wouldn’t stop crying.

Officials won’t way if there are discussions under way to remove life support, but the child, now in state custody, is in critical condition.

If the child dies, more serious charges are possible.

But Attorney David Sleigh says it is reasonable for Bedner to want to keep his child alive.
